On November 18, 2023, the sun set on the USAP Community School, marking the graduation of the Class of 2023. For 42 exceptional students, this day not only celebrated academic achievements but also marked two years of personal growth, dedication, and the formation of lasting connections.
The Class of 2023 arrived as strangers to the African map and the rich tapestry of its cultures. Throughout their time, they embraced the continent’s diversity, gaining knowledge of its intricacies, and forming bonds that felt like family. This graduation was special; it marked the first cohort to complete their entire campus time without disruptions, showcasing the resilience of these students. The bittersweet farewell displayed the deep camaraderie and affection these students developed, realizing that leaving USAP meant bidding adieu to a cherished home and family.
Guided by principles of integrity, service, curiosity, and equality, the Class of 2023 excelled not only academically but also in extracurriculars. From cultural exchanges in Rwanda to representing Zimbabwe in archery, judo, debate, quiz, and science fair competitions, these students demonstrated the essence of USAP principles. The emotional ceremony highlighted the supportive role played by the dedicated USAP faculty and the contributions of alumni and sponsors.
Uniquely USAPian tradition as it is, tributes were said for each individuals as they awaited to walk down the red carpeted aisle. Each step taken symbolizing a new walk into the next stage of life. USAPCS graduation is more than just putting the tassel to the left side of the cap. It is adding to the pool of USAP Alumni. The pool of amazing people, that take initiative and also gives back to their communities. With all the values instilled in us, class of 2023 is ready for that next big step. We have been through joyous, sad, serious and reflective moments. As these 42 graduates turn their tassels, they carry with them the values of USAP Community School—values that extend beyond academic excellence, shaping them into individuals ready to create positive change. To the Class of 2023, congratulations! As you embark on new journeys, remember the lessons learned, the bonds formed, and the spirit of USAPCS that will undoubtedly guide you to make a meaningful impact in the world.
