Alumni Spotlight: Rosemary Moyo becomes the 2025 AFS Youth Assembly Ambassador

What happens when talent meets opportunity? In this edition of our alumni spotlight series, we unveil the remarkable story of Rosemary Moyo, (USAPCS’22) who is harnessing her passions and talents in unexpected ways. Buckle up for an exciting ride through her journey!

Raised in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe, Rosemary credits her parents for shaping both her academic and professional aspirations. With both parents being engineers, her path into engineering felt natural, though it was never forced upon her. Their entrepreneurial background also played a key role in her interest in venture capital—an interest that was first sparked when she ran her own baking business under their supervision as a child.

Her passion for nonprofit work made joining AFS Youth Assembly a perfect fit. The organization’s mission closely aligns with her own, particularly in fostering youth development programs for high school students. Attending the 29th Youth Assembly in 2024 was a transformative experience for her—not just a result of visits to the United Nations in New York City, but also due to the invaluable networking opportunities and partnerships it provided across multiple sectors.

Rosemary Moyo was appointed as an AFS Youth Assembly Ambassador for Zimbabwe—a role that aligns seamlessly with her passion for youth empowerment and global collaboration. The AFS Youth Assembly is a global platform that cultivates an international network of young leaders and changemakers through exchange, education, action and impact. Beyond this opportunity, she is the Founder and Executive Director of Kudzidza Kuneutano, a STEM Fund Venture Capital Analyst at Hillside Ventures, and a Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Connecticut.

In her new role, Rosemary is committed to expanding Zimbabwe’s delegation and ensuring more young leaders from her country have access to these opportunities. She is excited about this journey and looks forward to contributing to global youth leadership initiatives while continuing to grow through this experience.
