Six USAPCS students, Jean-Annah Tafadzwa Muzenda, Mufaro Laura Nyamoa, Kundai Cleopatra Chirambayi, Londubuhle Moyo, Nenyasha Majurira and Sindi Nkulu, were accepted into the prestigious AFS Global STEM Accelerator Program, one of AFS Intercultural’s programs. This year, 2024 marks the first year of our participation in this STEM program after our initial involvement in 2023 with another of AFS Intercultural Programs, the AFS Youth Assembly where 7 USAP Alumni changemakers attended. All the six USAPCS students who applied to the AFS Global STEM Accelerator program were accepted.
The AFS Global STEM Accelerator program designed for young women aged 15-17 who are interested in STEM and sustainability on a global scale, offers a full scholarship for participants to engage in an online intercultural exchange aimed at developing the skills necessary to drive forward a sustainable future. With a rigorous selection process that saw over 1,000 applications vying for just 180 spots, the acceptance of six students from the USAP Community School is truly commendable.
The AFS Global STEM Accelerator Program stands out as a unique opportunity for young women passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to immerse themselves in an enriching online exchange program focused on sustainability and social impact. Participation in the AFS STEM Accelerator Program is one of the prerequisites for students applying for full scholarship to participate in the aforementioned annual AFS Youth Assembly academies and summit.
From May 4 to August 4, 2024, the selected scholars will embark on a transformative journey through the AFS Global STEM Accelerator Program. During this period, they will delve into various aspects of STEM and sustainability, tackling real-world challenges while honing their problem-solving skills and expanding their global awareness. By fostering collaboration among young minds from diverse backgrounds, the program aims to equip participants with the tools needed to effect positive change in their communities and beyond.
The success of these six students from the USAP Community School serves as a testament to the institution’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of academic achievement. By providing opportunities for students to excel not only within the classroom but also on a global stage, the school empowers its learners to reach new heights and make meaningful contributions to society.
As we applaud the accomplishments of these six talented individuals from the USAP Community School, we also recognize the significance of programs like the AFS Global STEM Accelerator in shaping the next generation of leaders in STEM and sustainability. Through initiatives that promote intercultural understanding, collaboration, and innovation, we pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for all.
